Family Adrianichthyidae

India and Japan to Indo-Australian Archipelago . Lateral line and rostral cartilage absent; paired narial opening; 4-7 branchiostegal rays ; vomer, supracleithrum , metapterygoid, and ectopterygoid absent. There are three subfamilies: Oryziinae, Adrianichthyinae, and Horaichthyinae.The family Adrianichthyidae belongs to the Class Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes ) and the Order Beloniformes. It contains 4 genera and 11 species. It may be found in Brackish , and Freshwater environments and is primarily Secondary freshwater. Members of this family are not used in the aquarium trade. Reproductively, most members of this family are mixed. The main mode of swimming of adult fish in this family is carangiform . This family may be found from 43° n to 10° s and 70° w to 140° e.

Physical Description

Species Adrianichthys kruyti

Males are commonly 11 cm (Standard Length) in length when caught/marketed, but may be as large as 16 cm (Total Length).

Habitat

Biome: Fresh water . Pelagic .

Ecology:
List of Habitats :5.5Wetlands (inland) - Permanent Freshwater Lakes (over 8ha)
