Habitat

Ecology: This subspecies inhabits reed beds and surrounding marshes of Lac Alaotra, where it forages on the leaves and young shoots of the reed Phragmites and buds and pith of Papyrus. Groups sizes vary from 3-4 individuals up to 30-40 depending on the time of the year.[1]
