Description
Habitat
Vegetation: tropical deciduous forests, tropical lowland evergreen forest, mangrove forests, arid lowland scrubs • Zoogeographic Region: Isla Providencia and Isla San Andres • Foraging Strata: Midstory • Center of Abundance: Lower tropical: lowlands, lower than 500 m.; tropics. • Sensitivity to Disturbancet: Medium
Biome: Terrestrial
Ecology: Highest densities occur in cocoa plantations with scattered
trees
and scrub
, dry lowland woodland and inland mangrove swamps, but lower densities occur in mesophytic
woodland and brushy pastures1. Within this wide range
of habitats
it has a preference for areas of dense understorey vegetation1. Breeding territory size is 0.5 ha. Nests
with young have been recorded in June, and are built in, or suspended from, the forks of branches, in both mangroves
and shrubby bushes. It gleans actively for caterpillars and other arthropods
