Genus Amanita
(Gr. amanitês: a kind of mushroom) A genus of widely distributed mushroom fungi (about 100 species). Several species are extremely poisonous, including the deadly destroying angels (A. vena and A. virosa), the death cap, and the fly agaric. Some species are harmless and sometimes eaten, for example panther cap (A. pantherina). Order : Agaricales .
