Genus Mangifera
Trees
with simple
, entire leaves. Flowers disposed in terminal
panicles, small and polgamous. Calyx deciduous. Petals 4-5, imbricate. Stamens as many as the petals, with only 1 functional stamen. Ovary unilocular
, with a solitary ovule; style filiform
. Fruit a large succulent drupe.
A genus of 40 species in S.E. Asia and Indo-Malaya.[1]
Habitat
Ecology: A tree found in freshwater marshy areas and mangrove swamp.[2]
