Genus Oligonema

Sporocarps usually densely crowded. Peridium membranous. Capillitium of simple or branched elaters, free from the base and capillitium and not forming a network , faintly decorated with spirals and sometimes warts and/or rings . Spore-mass yellow to ochre .

Physical Description

Species Oligonema aurantium

Sporocarps crowded, subglobose, sessile, brownish-orange, shining, 0.3-0.6 mm diam. Hypothallus firm, brown, common to a group. Capillitium abundant, bright yellow, tubules long, 3.5-5.0 µm diam., in some places slightly swollen, with very faint spirals , with protruding rings of varying breadth and sometimes with one or two spines, some spines rising directly from the tubules, free ends fairly abundant, obtuse and their tips sometimes with one or two spines. Peridium thin, double , the two layers closely adhering at least in the lower part, translucent , bright yellow, mostly smooth but sometimes faintly reticulate and the ridges with minute scattered warts . Dehiscence irregular. Spores and capillitium mass orange. Spores bright yellow, 11-13(-16) µm diam., banded-reticulate with c. 10 meshes across the diam., the ridges 0.5-0.8 µm high.
