Genus Oligonema

Sporocarps usually densely crowded. Peridium membranous. Capillitium of simple or branched elaters, free from the base and capillitium and not forming a network , faintly decorated with spirals and sometimes warts and/or rings . Spore-mass yellow to ochre .

Physical Description

Species Oligonema schweinitzii

Sporocarps sessile, densely heaped in a pulvinate mass. Sporocarps globose , shining yellow, 0.1-0.5 mm diam. Hypothallus inconspicuous. Peridium thin, the inner surface smooth . Capillitium of short, sparse elaters, 3-5 µm diam., decorated with faint spirals or occasional narrow rings , elsewhere smooth. Spore-mass yellow. Spores yellow, 12-16 µm diam., marked with an incomplete reticulation of large and small meshes, with a wide border in optical section . Plasmodium white or yellow.
