(L. articulatus: articulation, joint) A segment of a jointed stem or of a fruit with constrictions between the seeds.
In a crustacean appendage, a segment of the appendage which articulates with other segments. Also, some segments of appendages such as legs or the flagellum of antennae may be subdivided by circular constrictions along with thinning of the expskeleton so that the segment is composed of a string of beadlike subsections called articles.
